Our leadership team of senior professionals are the heart of our business. Each brings extensive industry experience to our company. They take the time to understand the unique circumstances of your business and ensure you are provided with the service that caters for your needs.
InterRISK Australia Pty Ltd is majority owned by ASX listed company Souls Private Equity Limited and a small group of private investors. One of these investors is our founder, Dennis Guy, who also sits on the InterRISK Board as Managing Director. Dennis has extensive experience with over thirty years spent in the global insurance marketplace.
1. Executive Management Team
Dennis Guy – Managing Director
Dennis has demonstrated success in business development in 40 years of service at senior levels of the insurance industry spanning Europe, USA, Australia and Asia. Dennis was chairman of Jardine Lloyd Thompson in Asia Pacific for more than 10 years and subsequently was a consultant to that company.
His current Directorships include Executive Health Solutions Pty Ltd, InterRISK Australia Pty Ltd and InterRISK Queensland Pty Ltd.
Bemard Cass – Managing Director – InterRISK Global Pty Ltd
Bernard Cass has more than 25 year’s insurance industry experience in designing, marketing and placement of corporate accounts both within Australia and Internationally.
For over 12 years he managed the Australian new business and broking team of Jardine Lloyd Thompson with particular emphasis on property, manufacturing and service based industries.
In addition to the above he developed and managed over the past 8 years the Jardine Lloyd Thompson tourism and leisure division for clients including The ACCOR group, Thakral Holdings Pty Ltd, City Freefolds Pty Ltd, Blue Line cruises Pty Ltd and Tourism Asset Holdings.
Bernard holds a Diploma Financial Services (Insurance Broking) and a QPIB.
Cameron Reaney – General Manager – Finance & Corporate Operations
Cameron brings to InterRISK over 9 years experience within the financial services industry in a broad range of roles.
He has worked for an international investment bank where he was involved in investment and valuation analysis as well as the design and implementation of various reporting models.
More recently Cameron worked as a consultant to a number of small to medium sized businesses engaged in the retail and insurance industries, where he provided financial and management accounting, cash management and compliance services.
Cameron has the qualifications of Bachelor of Commerce, Masters in Accounting and is a CPA.
Danny Gluszkiewicz – Managing Director – InterRISK Queensland Pty Ltd
Danny has been part of InterRISK since 2005 and has been involved in all aspects of the business from client management to business strategy.
In 2009, he was appointed as Managing Director of InterRISK Queensland Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of InterRISK Australia Pty Ltd established to focus specifically on the needs of Queensland business). In this role, Danny is focused on creating value for our clients by using our market leverage to secure competitive premium rates and advising on ‘best practice’ insurance programs together with risk management strategies in accordance with Principle 7 of the ASX Corporate Governance Principles.
Through our global broking network he has been successful in implementing insurance program design, technical evaluations involving mergers, acquisition and divestments and facilitating risk profiling workshops for our clients.
Danny has a Diploma of Financial Services from the National Insurance Brokers Association and is a Senior Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
David Wyner – Managing Principal – Group & Affinity
David commenced his career in Sydney with the Royal Insurance Company as an underwriter. His time with the Royal saw him transition into the reinsurance area and finally into the claims division where he took up various roles including loss adjusting.
A move into the Sydney insurance broking market in 1995 saw him develop skills in the area of affinity and group schemes and in 1988 relocated to Melbourne joining OAMPS Insurance Brokers as its Victorian Development Manager. His appointment as National Affinity Manager in 1996 saw him also appointed to the OAMPS Insurance Brokers Board. David was later appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2001 and became the longest serving Director in the history of OAMPS until the end of his tenure in 2008.
David is a Qualified Practising Insurance Broker and a Member of the Australian Insurance Law Association, the Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. David is also a director on the main Board of the National Insurance Brokers Association of Australia.
James Sinclair – Managing Principal – Professional & Financial Risks
James brings to InterRISK over 16 years of broking experience specializing in professional liability insurance. Providing service through that period to a variety of private and public sector organisations, James has also managed teams specialising in professional liability in Victoria, WA and NSW.
He commenced his career as a general insurance broker at Greater National Group while completing his insurance degree. Joining Minet Professional Services, subsequently Aon, to specialize in the professional liability field in 1993, James has managed professional risks insurance for a varied clientele, ranging from leading legal and accounting practices, through funds managers, the mining industry, wine companies and various medical professions.
In recent years James has been increasingly involved in arranging appropriate risk transfer for groups that have suffered through the industry turmoil subsequent to the collapse of HIH and other industry difficulties in recent years. His experience and focus on outstanding client service has resulted in regular presentations to client and industry forums.
James holds a Bachelor of Business (Insurance), is a member of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group and a Fellow of both National Insurance Brokers Association of Australia and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance
John Mutton – Managing Principal
John has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry including significant experience in underwriting, broking and risk analysis. He has developed a strong expertise in the corporate real estate sector and has worked with many private and ASX listed Australian companies.
John joined InterRISK in 2005 and currently leads the general insurance activities of our Victorian operation in addition to participating in many national activities. John held senior management positions with a global broker prior to joining InterRISK. He is experienced in delivering insurance broking services to numerous industries including Real Estate, Logistics, Manufacturing, Food Processing, Port and Channel Operators, Aged Care and Recruitment. He also has extensive experience in managing group and affinity operations.
John has project managed the risk and insurance activities of several client merger and acquisitions which included claims, risk retention and analysis. Adopting a hands on approach, John brings with him a very strong service ethic as well as substantial market and technical knowledge.
His qualifications include:

- Master of Risk & Insurance (Deakin)
John is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Subject Matter Expert with ANZIIF, NIBA Victoria Board Member and is a frequent speaker on insurance matters.
Justin Coss – General Counsel & Company Secretary
Justin joined InterRISK in 2007 as General Counsel and Company Secretary. Justin has over 15 years legal experience including over eight years in the London insurance market. Justin commenced his career in 1994 at Minter Ellison’s Brisbane office, before joining leading London solicitors, Ince & Co in 1997. He has also acted as a senior in-house legal adviser at Lloyd’s syndicate, XL Brockbank Ltd and sole in-house counsel at the Danish insurer, Tryg-Baltica. In 2005, Justin returned to Australia and to private practice as a senior associate at Allens Arthur Robinson in Sydney.
He has specialist experience in the areas of insurance and reinsurance including significant claims experience and expertise in corporate and commercial issues including regulatory and compliance matters. Justin has authored numerous publications and has delivered a number of seminars both in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Justin holds bachelor degrees in arts and law from the University of Queensland and postgraduate Diplomas from the Chartered Insurance Institute in the United Kingdom and Chartered Secretaries Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and an Associate of Chartered Secretaries Australia.
Michael Ellis – Managing Principal
Michael brings to InterRISK insurance broking and risk advisory experience spanning in excess of 10 years working in Australia, the United Kingdom and Thailand.
He has been involved in the design, management, marketing, risk management and captive management of various complex insurance programs to Companies with National and International operations including Bowater/Rexam Groups, Macquarie Goodman, Pacific Dunlop, Australia Post, Toyota, Holden, Gascor, Detroit Diesel – Allison, Victorian Hospitals and Orica.
Michael has provided claims management advice to clients that have experienced severe and complex losses and has expertise in specialised areas such as medical malpractice, contractual reviews and independent evaluation of insurance programs.
Michael has the qualifications of Bachelor of Commerce and is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
Verone Shek – Managing Principal – Professional & Financial Risks
Verone brings to InterRISK her specialist expertise within the corporate professional risks field focusing on Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Professional Indemnity, Crime, Trustees Liability, Malpractice Liability and Investment Managers Insurance.
Verone has been working in the insurance broking industry since 2002 specialising in the development and implementation of effective broking and marketing strategies for corporate clients. Prior to joining InterRISK, Verone worked at Aon and Marsh in Australia.
Verone is a CIP with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and holds a Master of Commerce in Business Law. Verone is also Company Secretary (NSW) of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group.
2. Board of Directors
David Wills – Chairman

David has been a Director of InterRISK since its foundation in 2004 and was appointed Chairman in 2006.
He is a Chartered Accountant, having been a partner in Coopers & Lybrand and then PricewaterhouseCoopers for 25 years. He was Managing Partner of the Sydney office and Deputy Chairman of the Australian firm immediately prior to his retirement from the firm in 2004.
Current listed company directorships held include Clover Corporation Limited, Souls Private Equity Limited and Washington H. Soul Pattinson and Company Limited 2006. In addition to his role as a Director of InterRISK Australia Pty Ltd, David is also a non-executive director of a number of companies in which Souls Private Equity Limited has invested.
Dennis Guy – Managing Director

Dennis has been a Director of InterRISK since its foundation in 2004 and was appointed Managing Director in May 2008.
Dennis has demonstrated success in business development in 40 years of service at senior levels of the insurance industry spanning Europe, USA, Australia and Asia. Dennis was chairman of Jardine Lloyd Thompson in Asia Pacific for more than 10 years and subsequently was a consultant to that company.
His current Directorships include Executive Health Solutions Pty Ltd, InterRISK Australia Pty Ltd and InterRISK Queensland Pty Ltd.
Paul Cave – Director

Paul has been a Director of InterRISK since its foundation in 2004.
In 1974 at age 29, Paul founded the Amber Group which subsequently became Australia’s largest tile and paving retailer. In 1996, he sold his 100% interest in Amber to staff, via a management buy-out.
In 1998 Paul founded Bridgeclimb, which is now one of the most successful large tourist attractions in Australia.
Paul is a past National and NSW Chairman of Enterprise Workshop, a member of W.P.O. (World Presidents Organisation) and previously Y.P.O.
He is Chairman of Clyde Bank Holdings (Aust.) Pty. Ltd, Chairman of Bridgeclimb and holds a number of Directorships including Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Lt and InterRISK Australia Pty. Ltd.
Paul is also a Director of Lifehouse at RPA (The Chris O’Brien Cancer Centre), a UNSW Advisory Council Member, a UNSW Alumni Leader, and Opera House Leadership Circle Founding Member.
Paul Cave has a Commerce/Economics degree from the University of NSW.

Peter Wyatt – Director

Peter Wyatt, Director and founder of our Queensland operation, is the former Managing Director and major shareholder of Wyatt Gallagher Bassett. He has been involved with the insurance industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region for over 25 years. As both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Loss Adjuster, Peter has a high level of understanding of the claims process, particularly for catastrophe losses, and brings that knowledge to InterRISK’s clients when their insurance policies are called upon to respond to a major claim.

Robert Westphal – Director

Robert joined the Board of InterRISK in August 2009 and is also the Chairman of the Compliance and Risk Management Committee.
He is a Chartered Accountant and was a partner of Ernst & Young for 25 years. He has many years of experience in corporate transactions with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, due diligence and valuation across a variety of industry sectors.
Current listed company directorships held include Souls Private Equity Limited and Washington H. Soul Pattinson and Company Limited. He is also director of a number of companies in which Souls Private Equity Limited has invested. In addition to his role as a Director of InterRISK Australia Pty Ltd, Robert is also a consultant to Pitt Capital Partners Limited and was formerly the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Queenwood School for Girls Limited for 10 years.
